Emotions and Elation by Banani Das Dhar – Book Review
The journey of motherhood is full of surprises and sweet shock sometimes. It doesn’t begin once you have a baby, the journey starts as soon as you are planning for one. The moment you discover you are pregnant, it is a wonderful surprise. Planning for the baby, tracking the period’s cycle, waiting for the two lines to appear, feeling nauseous, packing hospital bags, baby shopping everything is just awesome. Every new mom and dad go through these before the arrival of the little bundle of joy. Banani Das Dhar new release Emotions and Elation talks about it all.
Emotions and Elation by Banani Das Dhar – Book Review
Every one of us wants to keep something or another as a memory associated with pregnancy time. It can be a home pregnancy kit, scan copies, a photo shoot, new-born dresses etc. We all want to have a special pregnancy journey. The feeling of motherhood is amazing, everyone wants to cherish the feeling forever.
The incredible book Emotions and Elation by Banani Das Dhar has covered all the important milestones of mom’s life beautifully. At many places, I could relate to the story. I could totally understand what she is trying to communicate. I personally loved the narration and especially point of view of the father to be. Most of the time, the role of the father is skipped from the picture.
Choosing to bring a baby is the best decision and also life-defining decision for a couple. Especially mothers, because she goes through a lot of physical as well as psychological changes. The book is a lovely compilation of her pregnancy journey and how she has welcomed her little one Lakshya.
Emotions and Elation is not a pregnancy guidebook, it is a beautiful journey of Banani Das Dhar’s pregnancy. She has documented beautiful memories of her pregnancy, first heartbeat, an encounter with cold, negative thoughts, gloomy mornings, baby shower, labor, and delivery.

Emotions and Elation is an exciting read for all parents to be, both mommy and daddy would love the beautiful write up by Banani Das Dhar. I personally loved the book because it is not like a regular pregnancy guidebook or a “to do” manual. It is a lovely tale, narrated by a mother who embraces motherhood. Though it is a personal pregnancy journal, many of us can relate to most of it. If you want to relive your pregnancy journey, grab a copy of Emotions and Elation

There was a wave of elegance in reading your review. The author has done a marvellous job in penning down such a beautiful journey of pregnancy, which is indeed an experience to cherish. Good to Know that there’s a section for fathers-to-be as well. This gesture to include your partner in a good read is also a way to introduce companionship in the journey of parenthood.
I have never read a book like this, as I don’t have any kids. But it’s interesting to see a pregnancy book from an Indian mother x
