I think both kids and adults need to learn to disconnect when spending time with one another. We make it a rule in our family when we have family meals every Sunday, that all devices get put away and everyone focuses on each other and communicates.

I am really trying to put my own gadgets down and be a good example for my children. It is hard when we run an online business. I feel like I am constantly checking my phone. I think for my family the most important thing is to meet at the dinner table every night…gadget free and have an enjoyable dinner with conversation.

My kids are only allowed a few hours per week with their tablets. However, before they go on, they have to read or play with their toys first. When I am home with the kids I spend as much time as I can just being with them with no gadgets as time spent with them will always be remembered and cherished and they grow up so fast.

It’s so important to put the technology away and have time to talk and care about other people. When school work and what we think is our entire life is on the screen it can be difficult to unplug. BUT it’s so important and a skill to teach to our kids.

Kids learn from their surroundings, so if elders stay away from the gadgets, they too will learn.

Kids learn more by watching us rather than listening to us. The day we are ready to keep down our gadgets, so will our children! Nicely written piece…

It surprises me when I travel through any public transport everyone eyes are glued to the mobile screen and they will never come to know their neighbour or frd traveling with them
